1. Why buy the standalone machine instead of the full mask bundle?

Flexibility and budget. If you already own a compatible mask and tubing from a previous machine, you do not need to pay for duplicates. The standalone unit gives you the core AutoSet engine—the most advanced algorithm ResMed makes—without forcing you to rebuy accessories. Just select the optional humidifier and heated tube only if you actually need them. Our specialists are on hand to check your existing gear's compatibility so you never waste money.

2. The humidifier is optional—do I actually need it?

For the vast majority of UK patients, yes. The HumidAir chamber prevents that dry, scratchy throat and stuffy nose that often ruins CPAP therapy, especially during our cold winters. However, if you already use a separate room humidifier, or naturally tolerate dry air, you can safely skip it. We give you the choice because we know every patient is different. 3. What does the heated tube do, and is it worth adding?

It stops "rainout"—the annoying gurgling and water droplets that form when warm, humidified air hits a cold tube. The ClimateLineAir 11 heated tube actively maintains a constant temperature from the machine to your mask, so condensation never forms. If your bedroom drops below 16°C in winter, it is absolutely worth the small extra cost. You can add it later, but buying it upfront saves you on separate delivery fees and ensures you are comfortable from night one.

4. How do I get my pressure settings programmed on a standalone unit?

You have two options. If you have a prescription, you can provide it at checkout and we will pre-program the machine before we dispatch it. Alternatively, the AutoSet feature is smart enough to auto-adjust to your needs from the first night—though we always recommend having a clinician set your minimum and maximum range for optimal therapy. The machine has built-in 4G cellular connectivity, so your clinician can actually adjust your settings remotely without you lifting a finger.
